The Origins of Castle Stripe and a Look Back at the Collection That Started It All

For the first entry of Samantha Pleet's "Magical Guides" I am taking you to Venice, a city of dreams, where ​you can get lost in the labyrinth of the narrow streets and amongst the canal​s that whisper secrets of centuries past​. Venice in February was the perfect backdrop for wearing The Chronicle Coat, in a becoming shade of green it really popped in the colorful city and it kept me warm during the crisp days, and it looked amazing with everything else I wore from the collection.

If you are like me, you may find yourself stargazing, those celestial beacons have always pulled me outside on a clear night. I first introduced this embroidery for the Fall 2018 Collection and I have brought it back again with 2 classic styles + accessories.
I have always been drawn to representations of the constellations from artists from different eras. I came across this 1799 Constellation map by Prussian artist Christian Friedrich Goldbach and I love how the night sky was completely printed in black ink with glowing stars are left as uninked paper. Patrick translated this into embroidery artwork and we chose slinky, stretchy midnight velvet four our night sky, with glowing gold thread for the embroidered stars.
